Children born between June 1848 and March 1868.
1841 census Knowle Fold (HO107/503/14/7)
It seems strange that the birth of John Thomas ties back exactly with the dates in the Family bible. If it hadn't, there would still have been a bit of a a question mark over whether he was the son of John and Mary Ann. Other dates vary, for example the wedding date in the bible is seven days earlier than the date it was registered, and Edward's date of birth is two weeks earlier in the bible. The certificate for Edmund gives the date of birth as 17th June, Bible states 3 June, and the date of registration as 12th July.
I assumed the dates in the bible were dates of birth as it gives actual times for some of the later children. My great grand mother Mary Ann was born at 4.20 a.m. in the morning!
Much of the information in my family bible appears to have been entered at a later date. It has been
pointed out to me that the marriage and all the births relating to John and Mary Ann are all written in the same writing and in the same pen. Thus, it is likely that the entries were all made in March 1868 when the last child was born or later . This would be at least 17 years after John and Mary Ann's wedding and probably has a bearing on the accuracy of the information in the bible.
