Matthew Duxbury
A Local Preacher on the St. Vincent Mission. Departed this life in St. Vincent, Nov. 4, 1860. Father Duxbury in his 84th year of his age. He was a native of Lancashire, England, born in the year of our Lord 1777, emigrated to Canada in 1841. He was a member of the Wesleyan Methodist Church for 60 years, during a number of these years he held the office of an exhorter in the church and for 10 years, an acceptable local preacher. He loved to preach the work which he did with great accept (?)(fold in paper) and usefullness. He delighted to study the scriptures; he was remarkable for Christian (di) ty and purity and was a meek and quiet (?) which he beautifully manifested in the various (?) ions of life.
In a good old age, covered the snows of many winters, the last and l(?) nuated thread of life was broken bu the gen (?) ness; he was found looking, if not long (?) his Master's coming the near approach of the (?) thrilled his heart with joy. Having fought the fight and finished his course and kept the faith (?) Last enemy is now subdued - his last victory (?) on , and his eternal blessedness is secured. (?) are the dead which died in the Lord. Henceforth, yea saith the spirit, that they may rest from their labour and there work to follow them. (?) me live the life of the righteous that I may d(?) death of the same.
