Document collection "STANDISH" typescript
1288 the Manor of Duxbury was held in thirds by Adam de DUXBURY, Roger de BOLTON and Ellis de TONGE; each paying William de FERRERS a rent of 14d.
1227 Roger de BOLTON & Ellis de TONGE granted to Siward de DUXBURY one plough land rent 6s/4d per annum out of which Roger de BOLTON agreed to pay 5s/4d due to the chief Lords.
1246 Adam de DUXBURY joined in demanding of the Lords of Standish, Duxbury & Adlington that William de FERRERS, who had inherited the Mersey estates, should acquit them of the services claimed by the guardians of the Earl of Lincoln's estate.
Perhaps another Adam de DUXBURY was in possession in 1288, succeeded by a son Henry.
Henry son of Henry de DUXBURY was Lord of the place circa 1300 but seems to have parted with his rights to Hugh STANDISH of the household of Robert de HOLLAND one of Thomas Earl of Lancaster's principal officers.
1315: Henry de DUXBURY imprisoned and the manor acquired by Hugh de STANDISH

Duxbury George George [Male] b. ABT 1918 New York, NY, USA - d. 17 DEC 1975

Title: Kathleen Duxbury

My father,s father drowned when he was 2 or 3 years old. His mother died when he was a young teenager and he became a ward of the state of New York. As a child I often asked my
father why his family didn't take him in, as I recall there was never an
answer to this question, I assumed there wasn't any family to do so. As
an orphan he was fortunate, the State of New York (which took possession
of the family farm) sent him to the Pacific Northwest on the "Orphan
Train", this was during the Great Depression. He came of age on a "dude'
ranch, I have photos of him in full cowboy dress on a ranch somewhere in
Montana. He had some happy times there. After that there was WWII, he
was with the U.S Armed forces all over Europe. My father was a
gentleman, a wonderful happy man but, a man of few words. He would never
talk about WWII and I believe his childhood memories were bittersweet.

Kathleen Duxbury Yeaw, August 1999.
