Was from Harmony, Minnesota
A Little Old Town
I love to live in a town like this.
Just a little old town like this.
Where the flowers bloom along the way.
And the birds sing songs the livelong day,
And the glorious sun with genial kiss
Makes it good to live in a town like this.
I love to live in a town like this
Just a little old town like this.
Where you know the names of the folks you meet,
Though they happen to live on a different street.
And if they move, then faces you miss.
In a little old town like this.
I love to live in a town like this
Just a little old town like this.
Where every anguish in one's breast
Is felt and shared by friends the best,
Who share the gall and share the bliss.
In a little old town like this.
I love to live in a town like this
Just a little old town like this.
Where neighbors watch by a loved one's bed,
And weep with you o'er the bier of the dead,
And forgive every deed that was done amiss.
In a little old town like this.
Then let me live in a town like this,
Just a little old town like this.
Where your foe of today is your friend of tomorrow,
Who is eager to bear the cross of your sorrow,
And make it light as the morning mist.
In a little old town like this.
Then let me die in a town like this,
Just a little old town like this.
And o'er my grave let the roses creep
To brighten the spot where my poor bones sleep.
When my soul has winged the deep abyss,
And I rest forever in a town like this.

The George Duxbury familly (Notes by Marilyn Cox): My great grandfather migrated from England to Salem, Mass., with his parents and brothers and sisters. He eventually came to Minnesota, where he married and had three children--Henrietta (my grandmother), Sarah (who moved to Sumner, WN) and a girl who died as a child. George then lost his wife and later remarried and had two sons, William Arthur and John Henry. Then the second wife died also, and the family moved to McCook County, S.D.

Duxbury, both of Canova, South Dakota, and two daughters, all married.Mrs. H.C. Green of Kent is the other daughter. Mr. Green was here the first of the week and attended to the funeral arrangements. The youngest son arrived here from Canova, S.D. Wednesday evening.
