Obituary
Lorraine Schu, 86, of Grove died Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at the Grove Nursing Center. She was born on Sept. 12, 1917 in Worthington, Minnesota to Leslie and Ethel Goodell Duxbury. She married Wilbert Schuh on Nov. 16, 1940, and he preceded her in death on March 26, 1992. She lived in Grove for 12 years after moving from Ft. Dodge, Iowa. Survivors include her daughters, Judy Nelson and her husband Jud of Grove, Barbara Egli of Minneapolis, Minnesota; one son Paul and his wife Sharon of Peoria, Illinois; 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and 3 step great gramdchildren.
She was also preceded in death by 2 brothersand one sister. No services are planned; arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home of Grove.

John Henry and William Arthur ran a hardware store in Canova. In the 1900 census George, Henrietta and Wallace and Rubie were living together in Pearl twp. in South Dakota.

Mrs. Henrietta Humphreys, a resident of Sumner for more than 25 years, died Saturday, August 29 at the Puyallup General hospital, following a few weeks' illness. She was born at Preston, Minn., Nov. 6, 1863. She leaves a son, Wallace Dunn, of Sumner, a daughter, Mrs. Ruby Coates of Academy, S.D., a sister, Mrs. Sarah Green of Kent, and a brother, John H. Duxbury of Canova, South Dakota.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Sumner Funeral Chapel, Rev. W. A. Moore, pastor of the Christian church of which Mrs. Humphreys was a member, giving a tender memorial on behalf of the neighbors and friends, many of whom had known her kindly ministrations in past years. Music was provided by Mrs. Bernice Baldwin and Miss Lowella Blue, who gave old favorite hymnss. Interment was in the Sumner cemetery.

Roy was born August 7, 1884. He received his education in Canova and at State College in Brookings. He taught in rural schools in Miner County and later entered business in Ramona and Howard. He married Caroline Appel, August 29, 1911. They had two daughters Vivian and Mildred. The family moved to Wessington Springs where he operated a meat market from 1922 until his death July 6, 1945. Caroline died in Florida in 1975 at the age of 87. Vivian for many years was Dean of Nursing at Florida State University. Mildred married Charles Sullivan of Downey, California in 1942. She has a son, Charles, and a daughter, Irene. Mildred lives on the family homestead north of Canova.
