In the 1860 census he was listed as a blacksmith with real estate valued at $1000 and personal estate of $500. His post office was Edgerton. In the 1870 census Thomas was not there but Nettie and Sarah Duxbury were there. The real estate was valued at $1000 and the personal estate at $300. In the 1880 census Ellen was listed as a widowed nurse. Daughter Mary Loucks and Grandsons Charley A. and Roy C. Loucks were living there also. Mary was listed as married.
May have been born 1824. May have died 1880. Thomas and three children all died in 1860. Jane was a baby and died in July. Thomas and two more children died in December.

Family tradition tells us she smoked a pipe. Signed Garside on marriage record -- not an "X". George Henry Preston is listed as having performed the marriage. Lived in Rock Co., Wisconsin at one time.

Her mother's name was Garside. Her father's name was John Marler although he signed is name
John Garside on the marriage certificate. Landed in New York City December 2, 1847.

The name was probably Carside as that is incribed on her tombstone. This was her mother's name. Her father's name was John Marler.

Her surname may have been Garside as one document was not clear as to whether is was Garside or Carside.
