Married a woman in England who died before they came to America. By her he had one child, a girl
Married Nancy Garside shortly before he left England. Nancy's father was John Marler, a half brother of the man who operated Marler's Mill near Ashton's Mill in Newton-More. Nancy's father and mother lived together as husband and wife but were never legally married, which accounts for the fact that Nancy took the name "Garside" after her mother, whereas her father's name was Marler. John Marler came to Wisconsin and stayed there for a short time, going back to England therafter.

Edward and Nancy were both listed as living in Stayley at the time of their marriage.
Edward came to America Dec. 2, 1847.

His first wife was born in 1819. Daughter, Ann, was born about 1844.
