Tthe info on the marriage certificate of Robert Duxbury and Permelia Parkinson is that they married at St David's church Liverpool on 29 August 1880. He is quoted as being 27 years old and Permelia as 24 yrs old (however in the census one year later it is stated that she was 23 yrs). Profession of Robert was "stoker in Royal Navy". Address for both is quoted as Canning Place. Robert Duxbury's father is Thomas Duxbury - fitter. The witnesses are Robert Holt (brother-in-law according to 1881 census) The other witness is a Mary Ellen Barrsworth who must have been illiterate becasue she only made a mark not a signature. i don't know who she is. on the marriage certificate Permelia's name is spelt Pamelia.
On Robert Duxbury's death certificate 29 Nov 1905 his age is stated as 58 yrs and occupation as night watchman. place of death was 56 Sandon St Witton Blackburn. I used to visit this family home when it passed on to his spinster daughter of the same name as me.
I'm not really sure of when he was on the Daphne other than it is written in the Euclid book I have. Again occupation is stated as Stoker. the only thing we can be sure of is that he was on the Daphne at the time of the wedding in 1880. I presume this is why they married in Liverpool. was the ship sailling from Liverpool dock? there are family stories of him pearl diving in southern seas. these came from his spinster daughter. She kept his naval uniform until her death when the house was cleared by my uncle. There was also talk of a Duxbury Island somewhere in the southern hemisphere. I don't know if this is true
